Generation In-Between: Straddling Two Digital Worlds

Being born between two worlds is a strange feeling. I belong to that generation that saw the world before the digital era, when the internet was a novelty and social media didn’t exist. I still remember the sound of the modem connecting and how long it took to download a single song. Then, suddenly, everything changed. We had to learn to use social media as adults, trying to adapt to this new way of communicating, which, for Gen Z, is as natural as breathing.
What strikes me most is the ease with which today’s young people present themselves online. They post videos, share their stories without filters, and stream live as if it were the most natural thing in the world. I, on the other hand, always feel a kind of restraint, a sense of modesty that holds me back. I don’t know if it’s because we grew up with more privacy or simply because we aren’t used to being so exposed. But when I see Gen Z in front of the camera, so confident, I often feel out of sync, like I’m trying to keep up with something that doesn’t fully belong to me.
We are a generation in-between: too young to give up on technology, but too old to feel completely comfortable with constant exposure.
Perhaps this is our biggest dilemma: figuring out how to navigate a world that changes faster than we can adapt to. And who knows, maybe there’s a different way to live this balance, one we have yet to discover.
